Military Psychiatric Evaluation for MEPS (Missouri only)
If you are signing up for the military, and you have any mental health treatment history, your recruiter will likely tell you that you need a psychiatric evaluation for MEPS to clear you for duty. Why does MEPS sometimes require this? Simply put, the military wants to be sure that you are able to cope with the various stressors of military life. You can expect to discuss past and present psychological treatments, medications, or conditions.
One of our psychiatrists will evaluate you, and write a letter that explains whether or not they are recommending you for duty, and why. A particular result from the evaluation is not guaranteed. Our doctors will thoroughly review your evaluation and documentation you provide.
The letter that the doctor writes belongs to you, and you can download it from your portal. Rest assured, we do not share your information with anyone, including MEPS or your recruiter, without your expressed written consent.
What do I need to provide?
We ask that you share with the doctor (by uploading to your secure portal) the documentation you have for any mental health treatment history, including past doctor visits, medications, hospital stays, etc.. The doctor will also ask for a letter or other documentation from your military recruiter that helps us to know more about the issue to be addressed through the evaluation/doctor’s letter. Please note that we cannot promise the results of your evaluation.
Will insurance cover this visit?
Our psychiatrists are out of network with insurance, however, we can provide you with a superbill (a ready-made claim) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out of network coverage. To find out what your insurance company may reimburse you for this service, call the number on the back of your insurance card.
